The test bench is based on AC electric machines. Due to the use of electric dynamometers, the stand allows to carry out any types of tests of both the entire transmission and its components. During the tests, both constant and dynamic load can be simulated in accordance with a given law, as well as the process of application of brakes, acceleration, and rundown of the vehicle.
The test bench can be easily modified for any type of transmission (mechanical, HST, CVT, Powershift, electric) of any vehicle (classic, hinge or integral configuration). The load can be simulated on each wheel separately, on the axle, gearbox or PTO. In accordance with the chosen scheme, from 2 to 6 loading machines can be involved in the test.
The test bench can operate in a power recovery mode, when the power from the braking machines is supplied through the converter to the load unit. In this case, only energy that compensates for the energy loss in the transmisstion will be consumed from the network. This can significantly reduce energy consumption. Thus, with a gearbox efficiency of 90%, only 10% of the transmitted energy will need to be spent for testing, which will reduce the cost of testing by 10 times compared to stands that do not have energy recovery.
